“Leading from the back of the room” is a principle being discussed by people leaders who are the front of the room and are starting to look at things from the back of them room. If done properly, and communicated in the right way, it enables teams to grow, gain confidence and be more productive.

Meet This Month’s Rebels:

As CPO and a member of the UKG executive team, Pat Wadors leads the company’s world-class HR organization, guiding its people-related business strategy as UKG continues to grow its organization and award-winning culture. Pat is responsible for the global employee experience at UKG — including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee communications, workplace services, and HR business partners, consultants, and solutions.

Pat has extensive HR experience, most recently serving as CPO at Procore Technologies, leading the company through expansive growth. Prior to Procore, she served as Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) at ServiceNow, where she was responsible for overseeing global employee resources and talent, helping the company scale while building programs to support employees and their families. She has also held multiple leadership roles in the technology industry, including at LinkedIn, Plantronics, Inc., and Yahoo!, and has served as a board member for several prominent technology companies, including UKG.

Pat is a multiple recipient of the National Diversity Council’s Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Technology. She is known for her transformational and strategic HR leadership and is a frequent speaker on diversity and inclusion issues. She holds a B.S. in Business Management and Human Resource Management from Ramapo College of New Jersey.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have participated early on projects like sub 100 Nvidia, iPod, iPhone, iOS Imaging, iOS acoustics, etc at Apple, Nest Labs, Google’s Alphabet, my own HR Tech venture, early retirement, and now strongly focused on scaling one of the best experiences of my career!”

José has spent his career driving talent strategies behind some of the most recognized consumer electronics products in history. He spent the 2000’s organizing the talent growth behind iPod, iPhone, Special Projects Group and Advanced Technologies at Apple, in 2011, je joined Nest Labs as an early employee responsible for People Ops, Corp Dev, and Talent Acquisition. He helped to expand Nest from a garage startup into a $3.2B acquisition by Google. He co-founded Plause, an HR engagement measurement system, keynote speaker, and has worked with numerous Venture Capital firms and their portfolio startups and individuals as an advisor and coach before joining Humane as employee #21 as the Head of Talent.

Claude Silver is VaynerMedia’s (and the world’s) first-ever Global Chief Heart Officer, tasked with fusing empathy with agency to unlock employee potential and foster a culture of belonging across the 1600+ person organization. Between her deep education in psychology and spirituality and the two decades she has spent as an advertising strategist, Claude has been studying and influencing human behavior for over three decades.

Outside of her role at VaynerMedia, Claude speaks globally about the need for heart-led leadership in today’s workplace and the importance of treating “employees” like people, not numbers. Her success in guiding client relationships, global brand strategies, operations, management, and culture is driven by her abiding passion for creating spaces in which people can show up as their true selves and thrive as a result.
